Jinho Cho, Assistant Conductor

Born in Seoul, Korea, Jinho Cho earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary, where he initially majored in voice under Sung-Hwan Cho before discovering his passion for conducting. From his junior year onward, he studied conducting under Dr. Chang-Hoon Park and completed his undergraduate studies in 2020. During his B.M., he was selected as student conductor for the Seoul Oratorio Festival in 2017, 2019, and 2020, conducting major choral-orchestral works such as Bach’s Cantata BWV 80, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn’s The Creation, and Handel’s Messiah. He also performed actively with the Jahng-Shin Concert Choir, Moffet Choir, and Collegium Vocale Seoul, and served as student president of the Department of Music in 2018.

Cho completed his Master of Music in Choral Conducting at The University of Texas at Austin in Spring 2022, studying with Drs. James Morrow and Suzanne Pence. While at UT Austin, he served as Teaching Assistant for the undergraduate choral conducting class and Associate Conductor of the Concert Chorale, gaining valuable experience in both performance and pedagogy.

Following his master’s degree, Cho returned to Korea to pursue his vision in classical concert planning. He directed and produced numerous performances and served as Planning Team Manager for the large-scale production 2024 Again Turandot, conducted by Plácido Domingo and José Cura at COEX, Seoul, in December 2024. His work in this project deepened his expertise in large-scale performance management and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Currently, Jinho Cho is pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting at Boston University College of Fine Arts, where he studies under Dr. Daniel Parsley and Dr. William Cutter. He serves as a Teaching Assistant for the University Choruses and an Assistant Conductor of the Boston Choral Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Katherine Chan. His research and artistic interests center on the intersection of choral artistry, cross-cultural collaboration, and concert production leadership.
