The Boston Choral Ensemble has a few vacancies in each voice part for the 2016/17 season and we will be holding auditions at the beginning of September.
Due to the large interest we receive each year, our formal auditions are by invitation, which is different than past years. If you are interested in auditioning and feel you are a good match for us, please fill out this form and our Membership Chair, Julia Hanna, will be in touch. Feel free to contact Julia directly at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Auditions will take place by invite as follows:
Tuesday, September 6 – Semi-Open Rehearsal (and auditions)
Wednesday, September 7 – Auditions
The rehearsal and auditions will take place at Old South Church, Copley Square in downtown Boston from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.
The open rehearsal will give auditionees an opportunity to meet the ensemble and our director and introduce you to the repertoire we will be singing in our first cycle of the season (music will be provided). While we strongly encourage you to join us on September 6, attendance at the open rehearsal is not mandatory. Each audition will take approximately ten minutes and will include sight-singing and some basic vocalizing. You will be asked to sing a familiar tune, so there is no need to bring a prepared piece. An example of the type of sight-singing you will be asked to perform can be found here. On the day of your audition, we ask that you arrive a few minutes before your scheduled time.
A brief announcement about our upcoming season and repertoire can be found here.
