Auditioning for BCE

After competitive midyear auditions, the Boston Choral Ensemble, one of New England’s premier chamber choirs, is thrilled to welcome six new members to our 2011-2012 season roster. Known for its adventurous and imaginative programming, BCE aims to explore the extraordinary wealth of choral music with performances of the highest standard. This year’s repertoire will include Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Whitacre’s Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine, and Tavener’s Butterfly Dreams, as well as several works by British composer Judith Weir.

Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 6:30–9:30pm at Old South Church in Boston. Performances this season will be at Old South Church; Mission Church, Boston; and First Church, Cambridge. Singers will have the opportunity to receive free vocal instruction as part of their membership.

No audition preparation is necessary. Musical training, some sight-reading ability, and a willingness to commit to all concert dates are required.
